Heat Wave!
Is it ever going to cool off? I hope it does soon. This is what we have been doing a lot of this summer
Eating yummy corn on the cob!
Playing in the hose!
Don’t worry, I wrenched the hose out of her hand shortly after I took this shot! Which didn’t make her very happy, apparently squirting yourself in the face is ok as long as you are getting to play with the hose, hehe!
Melonie being silly. It was so hot, she got in the pool with her play clothes still on! This little pool was the best $15 I ever spent. I got it last year, and when they are done in it, we just dump the water out and put it away (where it is not seen from the road).
Only babies can get away with this look
I kept her shirt on to ward off mosquitoes.
Playing frisbee with daddy.
Who doesn’t love watermelon? I know we do at our house
How are you keeping cool this summer?
Problem Solved!
A couple of days ago while Melonie was at her grandma and grandpa’s for a couple days. I worked on her room, a lot! I cleaned out junk and trash, plus updated her wall a little bit. Her bed is a twin on one of those metal frames with the casters. Why anyone would ever want to roll a bed around is beyond me! I painted her a headboard that I got at a resale shop black and it is just in place behind the frame (the headboard didn’t come with hardware, and we have yet to purchase any). Anyway, the bed frame was constantly rolling around and I was having to put it back into place. The problem wouldn’t be so bad if her floor was carpeted, but it is a laminate floor (you can see in the pic) So I finally solved that problem! I took an old rug with rubber backing and cut it into fourths. And tied each piece onto the leg with the rubber out, voila! No movement at all now, I didn’t take a picture of it because it really isn’t that pretty
Plus, this post was really supposed to be about how I solved another problem!
How I fixed her ill-fitting bed skirt!
The pictures are pretty self explanatory. I actually pinned into the box springs so it will not slip out either side anymore! And gathering it up in the middle keeps it from pooling and dragging on the floor. By the way, I got this really cute bed skirt at The Front Page for .99! I go there just to look at their 90% off stuff
Here are a few more details in her room (which is a constant work in progress)
She has no windows in her room, hopefully that will be changing in the near future. Her walls look peach but are actually pink and green (3 walls pink and one green).
Pom-poms left over from Mollie’s birthday party, vintage fabric in frames I spray painted black, and a small glimpse of her “special items” on one of her various shelves, which I also painted black. I love me some spray paint!
Vintage Disney records hung above her closet (picked up at Goodwill for a couple dollars). This is just temporary, until I can get some black 12”x12” frames. They are dated 1965 & 1969!
I hope to do more posts like this in the future, like maybe a weekly thing or something. What do you think?
